Refreshing the blog
Life happened - as they say.
Despite some early momentum things have been a bit quiet around here lately. I hoped that just lowering my standards and allowing myself to publish things a bit more rough and ready would be enough to build the habit of writing and publishing regularly. Unfortunately, I didn’t really approach that with enough structure or schedule, so as soon as I was knocked off-kilter, I never really recovered.
Anyway, I’m back to trying to write some more. I also want to trial a system of more regular posting and to tackle that I have two things I want to set up:
- A method for scheduling the publishing of posts. This will allow me to better capitalise on the surges of motivation to “paper over” the times when I’m busier or more overwhelmed. Thus I can buy myself some future slack but I’ll still be forced back into action when the buffer starts to run thin.
- A simple recurring structure for a post. This is just to give myself a lower “activation energy” to getting something published. If I have a rough structure to help me write about the things that have been happening then I’m hoping it will be easier to maintain the rhythm. I’m drawing inspiration from things like weeknotes and monthnotes which I have seen on other blogs.
Again, I’m optimistic that once I’ve developed the habit of publishing something, it will become easier to publish and write more in general.
